The Beauty of Nusa Penida (and Bali!)

First and foremost, to all people out there that possesses a quite bad geographical and general knowledge, Bali is part of Indonesia. And Nusa Penida is part of Bali province.

Literally, Nusa means island, small island to be more precise. Nusa Penida literally means Penida island. Is a paradise located south of Bali Island, a beautiful island with little exposure to tourist. The island can be reached by speedboat trip from Sanur Beach of Bali for a mere cost of IDR 75K one way and it’s a around 40-60 minutes long.

To be precise, before I took trip to Nusa Penida, I spend a day in Bali to explore around Ubud and Batur, which I (with my friends) rented a car and drives around the town in a cloudy and drizzly weather. Oh, and we visited a Desa Adat (Culture Village) of Penglipuran. Because of the Galungan holiday, which is a big cultural/religious holiday, there are a lot of beautiful decoration along the way and in the village, called “panjor”.

Okay ehm, so, Nusa Penida.

As Nusa Penida is an island, we need to swim accross the strait to get to the island. Luckily, there’s a boat service daily from Bali to Nusa Penida. So, instead of getting wet, let’s just take a speedboat to get to the island.

We took the earliest speedboat from Sanur and go straight to the our Bungalows we already booked to put our stuffs and getting ready to explore this island. The place we stayed on is a very recommended one with friendly staffs and very good facilites, and cozy bed in a very affordable price, and you can rent a lot of stuffs here for your exploration of the island. The best way to explore and getting from one point to another in this island is by rent a scooter, or if you feel you are a skilled driver, you can rent a car and drive it by yourself, but you can hire a driver and car as well. The terrain is quite challenging, with a lot of steep elevation road and  This island is a tropical paradise!

We only stayed one night in this island, which is too short for a trip to explore the island, but we managed to visit a lot of place. On day one, we managed to visit Crystal Bay Beach (-8.715499, 115.459620), Pasih Uug or literally Broken Bay Beach (-8.7325393,115.451461), and Angel’s Billabong. Unfortunately, the weather is a bit too cloudy and damp with a wind blowing a bit harder than a gentle breeze, so I abandon the plan to snorkeling at Crystal Bay Beach and only enjoying the beach until the sky is clear and enjoy more before we moved to Pasih Uug.

Crystal Bay

The road to Pasih Uug is a bit challenging (if you can call it a “road”) especially if you are not too skilled in a scooter and the rain just poured down few moments before. So take a careful approach when getting here, but the view will be really worth the trip!

A Trip to Pahawang Island

It’s been a while since I write something in this blog especially a travel related one. Well, now it’s time for one.

Pahawang Island

Pahawang Island. That’s the name of the place, it is located administratively in Lampung Province, Indonesia. It’s on a bay of Lampung, southern part of Sumatera Island. On the google map, I checked it’s name Bay of Ratai, I’m not sure if this accurate but well, there’s the island.

Road Trip Scotland (3)

A long overdue post…

Lagi ramai perbincangan tentang Brexit. Well, sepertinya momen tepat untuk mengingat sebuah perjalanan mengarungi daratan Britania. Good thing I have a good memory.

Or not. Good thing I have done the trip with fun people! Continue reading

2015, a Year in Perspective

10421993_10205182388233646_8922357159702389657_n

Okay, so, it’s a new year. A new calendar year, to be precise, bye 2015, hello 2016. A year full of opportunities, challenge and every other things ready to be tackled. 2015 felt very quick to pass by, but there are a whole lot more memories happened and recorded than the usual year. It felt like a dream, a real dream. But it was an awesome year overall, I learned a lot of stuff, changing perspective, got a master degree to name a few.

I spent most of the year living in Bristol, UK, for my post graduate study. It’s started on late 2014, and going through to the late 2015. Actually I have draft saved for this story (Life in Bristol review) but I have not yet published it. Partially it’s not yet finished, partially I’m not yet fully comfortable writing (part of) my own personal life and share it in public domain. But maybe later.

The year is so awesome and the stories are so cool that actually I can delve into more details by actually write separate blog post for each stories I experienced (like my road trip stories here, ugh I remember I haven’t finished the last part of it!). So I won’t write all in details the year in review in this post. I want to write it separately (I hope!).

Cycling from Bristol to Bath

I know I’m not the fittest man around, and I’m not really good at sports or exercise related things, but I do love doing it, well I admit I’m not doing it consistently enough everyday. And well, one fun thing to do is cycling.

One fun fact: the distance between Bristol and Bath is not to far away and it is very doable for cycling.

It’s been a tough few weeks (maybe months) for me, and rather boring (not really, just stressful) also, some kind of stress piling up and and tough ride emotional wise is start to affecting myself. So in the middle of heat of dissertation works, stressful weeks, and with some negatives energy flowing through inside my emotions and head I decided to have a small break and do some fun exercise of something I love to do: cycling.

Road Trip Scotland: Exploring Highland

Cherish the moment. A short and simple sentence.

Road Trip to Scotland: Awal Cerita
